I used be a Hair Hater...

NOW IT SEEMS RIDICULOUS!

Like the title of my blog "I Feel Lucky", for both my health and my HAIR!!!!!

I may have mentioned, in the past, that I am an oncology nurse, when I'm not sewing.  Recently, it seems, several of my patients have been struggling with image issues, related to not only loss of their Breasts, but their Hair.  Not fair, not fair.

We have wonderful contributions from the community, as far as quilts to keep them snuggly during their chemo treatments, and knitted caps for their head.... but it is getting towards summer, and their heads are getting hot and itchy!

Here is my contribution for a few of my gals:

OK, the last one was actually a Luchador mask for my Lucha Vavoom inspired bathroom! More on that for a different post.   The ladies loved their hats, and seemed very excited to try something a little dressier than a knit. Their little smiles, while glancing at themselves in the mirror, made my day.

Please, if just one fellow seamstress reads this blog , and would like to brighten someones day by embellishing a pretty little cap, please email me and I can give you pattern numbers, and would be willing to make sure your creation ends up with a fun head to land on!

So Hats Of To Our Hair!

I just saw there design of the day "nerdy" ....mind spinning with ideas for a special someone. Seriously , check out their link if you embroider. Not your Grandma's designs for sure!

Here are a couple of wraps. Great for slipping on after the beach, then embellishing with a lighter wrap for dining:

Can't forget the man! Here are a couple of Tech Support creations:

Styling with your wireless keyboard, and waterproof camera. How will you keep the tape, holding your glasses on when you snorkle?

I'm gonna get the man to lift me out of the water like that :)

She's Back!

Phew!!!! Boy have I been a busy girl.  Glad to be back a babbling,  and very excited to post  little valentines inspiration.

Here is a little drinkie  poo, to help you get the little conversation hearts beating:

Look how that little strawberry is shaped like a heart!
Strawberry Kiss

- 1 1/2 oz. Absolut Vanilla
- 1/2 oz. strawberry liqueur
- Splash of CranPineapple juice

Combine ingredients and top with champagne.

SOURCE: Absolut

Found the drinkie here : http://www.cosmopolitan.com/advice/entertaining-ideas/valentines-day-drinks
I think we better just skip Cosmo's other valentine advice, at least on this blog :)

All the flying smoochies in the air....
Got me thinking of  the people that deserve a little kiss for all they do. Made some heart themed wristlets for my gals
at work:

Here are the backsides of the same wristlets

I think they are super fun. The can hold I.D, credit card, lipstick,  & your mobile.

Here is my favorite one! I used my inkjet to make valentine cut outs, and embroidered conversation hearts.  Fun times :)

Here is the back

I love me some valentines!!!!!!

Smooching off, but wait....

Take this advice, and don't forget your special valentine, or you may be asking yourself this question...

Cozy, Christmas, Crazy Time

Now, we are not going to get into that "It's such a stressful time of year" thing are we?  Nonsense! We will make yet another fond memory.

I got this great picture from the following blog: http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2009/12/17/champagne-holiday-cocktails/
Great resource if you will be playing in the Bay area!

I love champagne bubblies , along with a pretty presentation that will twinkle & sparkle as the Christmas lights bounce off the glass.  I like this recipe, found on http://cocktails.about.com/od/cocktailrecipes/r/poinsettia_cktl.htm

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Chill all of the ingredients beforehand.
  2. Pour the Cointreau and cranberry juice into a chilled Champagne flute.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Top with Champagne.
So, the lights are on, our drink is on, what should we make with our Brother (sewing machine that is!) ?

Fun little crossover for mall hopping, hands free to wrestle your bargains away from your fellow shoppers.
Oh, you prefer the more traditional Christmas colors?

Don't forget a little sewing sing along!
